Travel,a passionate pastime.
Growing up in a very conservative town, like Uitenhage (also known as Beetle city due to the Volkswagen factory),our family's travel was very limited due to my father's commitments to VW.It was always a once in a year's affair from mid December!
I experienced the best of camping in the Eastern Cape during my junior years.It was a pure luxury when Cape Town was announced as our holiday destination.The very first trip to Cape Town coincided with the Verwoerd assassination and led to a humorous, nearly tragedy situation.(Another time)
In my mid twenties my love for playing rugby led me to travel destinations all over South Africa and entry into VIP destinations where tourists very seldom got access. A back injury forced me out of competitive sports, but rugby provided me with that urge to see more!Then I met my wife,from a family that planned their lives around travel and holidays. The travel bug was very infective since the early 80's and left a trail over endless countries. Every destination has a story and experiences galore. I'll be back with our first nearly 3 month tour in 1987.
